New Music Seminar Highlights, Part 1
Earlier this week, the New Music Seminar descended on New York City's Webster Hall, bringing together top players in every facet of the industry to discuss how the music industry will adapt and move forward into the digital era. Adaptability was a major theme during the seminar. On Monday, Michael Huppe, president of SoundExchange, quoted Charles Darwin, "it's not the strongest species that survives, but the most adaptable." Huppe continued, "if we adapt to what's in our way, we'll take the industry to newer and higher levels." When Fashion and Music Collide: Levi's Vive Les Friends
On a casual stroll on the Champs Élysées, the window display at the new Levi's flagship store caught my eye. It featured the names of two of my favorite artists, James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem, founder of DFA Records), and Pedtro Winter (aka Busy P, founder of Ed Banger Records), who collaborated with Levi's to create limited edition collections. Upon further investigation, I discovered that the collaboration extends beyond the collection; each artist has selected personal objects and artifacts from their studios and offices to display at the store. New Music Seminar Coming to NYC this June
New Music Seminar (NMS) is a conference and festival that brings together visionaries from across the music industry, with the aim of building a better music business. NMS strives to create a new economic model that enables artists to rise to their highest potential based on talent and merit, not financial resources or connections. This year's NMS will take place June 17-19 in New York City's Webster Hall, and will host an accompanying festival in venues across New York City from June 17-20.

Last week, Bushmills announced their very own two-day music festival, happening June 20-21 at the Old Bushmills Distillery on the north coast of Ireland. Bushmills Live will be first festival to ever be held in an Irish Whiskey distillery.

Trouble & Bass to Host SXSW Showcase

Ultra is Expanding... Big Time
Brace yourselves, Ultra Music Festival is expanding. The Miami mainstay has just announced that it will stage six different festivals on four continents over the course of 2012. In addition the existing festivals in Miami and Sao Paolo, Ultra will hold events in Buenos Aires, Warsaw, Seoul, and Ibiza.
