Austin, Texas -- It may be more than six months away, but any industry insider and festivalgoer knows there is no such thing as too early when it comes to preparing for South By Southwest. You can now head over to the festival's official website to register for badges and submit applications for SXSW's Music, Film, and Interactive components.
SXSW Music will again take over Austin March 7-11 with panels, showcases, and parties taking place day and night. If you want the chance to perform for the 25,000 industry representatives that will be in attendance, now is the time to apply. All submissions must be received by October 11 and will cost $33 before September 6 and $45 for those received afterwards.
SXSW Film will take place March 7-15 and is now accepting filmmaker submissions to have their films screened at the event. All submissions in this category must be received by November 14, but those received by October 3 will qualify for a discounted submission fee.
SXSW Interactive will also kick off March 7 extending until March 11. As of today, the component is accepting applications for SXSW Accelerator for startups launched in the past year as well as applications for the 17th Annual SXSW Interactive Awards, which will celebrate the best in digital work no matter the medium.
For all three components above, the PanelPicker voting system will be up and running Monday, August 19, and will continue until Friday, September 6. The system will allow anyone in the SXSW community to have a significant say in who will be present and what topics will be discussed.
If you want to attend SXSW 2014 but not actually submit your music/film/startup, no worries. Official registration is now open for all components. Consult the grid on the registration page for more on deadlines and prices - the longer you wait, the more you will pay.
