Stone Roses, Blur, Phoenix, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers to headline Coachella
Indio, California -- Ladies and Gentlemen, the lineup for Coachella has finally arrived. Spring's tent pole festival will be headlined by the Stone Roses, Blur, Phoenix, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, with support from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Wu-Tang Clan, Sigur Rós, and Lou Reed (peep the full lineup HERE).
There's no doubt that Coachella has assembled a stellar collection of artists and that anyone attending the festival this year will have a great time, but there's still something disappointing about the lineup.
Perhaps it's because many of the major acts have already been announced for other lineups: Phoenix will appear at New Orleans Jazz Fest, Blur is slated for Primavera Sound and Øya (though no other US dates as of yet), and the Red Hot Chili Peppers already headlined several festivals last year, including Austin City Limits.
The problem that Coachella faces is that expectations are sky high. Coachella has built a reputation for amazing, history-making lineups that set the tone for the summer festival season, but by the time they made this year's announcement, we already knew the lineups for several summer festivals, including Gov Ball, Jazz Fest, and Primavera Sound.
That being said, there's some serious heat in the fine print, and we still think Coachella is 100% worth the trip. Tickets go on sale this Tuesday, January 29 at 10am PST for both weekends. Coachella tickets are always in high demand, which is why the festival recommends you set up your purchase account before Tuesday for weekend 1 (April 12-14) or weekend 2 (April 19-21).
Once your tickets are purchased, head to our Coachella Festival Guide to plan the rest of your trip.
