Here's a quick peak of what's going on in the world of music festivals this May, including upcoming festivals, Cultivora guides, and lineup releases.

May Festivals

May is a packed month for music festivals, especially over Memorial Day Weekend. The weather is warm - but not too warm - school is coming to an end, and desk jockeys are itching for another vacation.

First up, Jazz Fest. New Orleans' seminal, 10-day cultural event already has one 2013 weekend under its belt, but it's not over yet. The festival continues this weekend from May 5-8. Get acquainted with the lineup with our Music Monday Playlist inspired by the fest.

The following weekend, Bottle Rock Napa Valley will make its debut on the festival scene. The festival, which will take place May 9-12, features a stellar lineup for such a new event. But it's no surprise both artists and attendees are drawn to it - music and wine, need we say more?

But Bottle Rock isn't the only new festival taking place that week - Marvellous Island will make its debut in Paris, France. If you want to check that one out, don't miss out on the package deal offered via Festicket.

Mid-May will see the realization of The Great GoogaMooga's sophomore edition in Brooklyn's Prospect Park May 18-19. This year, festival organizers have promised less lines and more food in addition to their musical lineup.

If you're further south than New York that weekend, check out Hangout on Alabama's Gulf Shores.

The following week is when May's festivals really kick off. During Memorial Day Weekend, festivalgoers can choose between American festivals Sasquatch! in Washington State, Detroit's Movement, the inaugural Boston Calling, Rock on the Range in Columbus, and Illinois' Summer Camp.

Internationally, Memorial Day Weekend fests range from Field Day in London to Primavera Sound in Barcelona.

May Guides

While May is a big month for festivals both new and established, it's also a big month for new guides on our site.

We'll be debuting a Cultivora Guide to Bumbershoot to join our other Seattle-based guides to Capitol Hill Block Party and Decibel, which is also slated for a revamp this May.

You should also keep a look out for new guides to Australia's Splendour In The Grass and for Canada's Osheaga and NXNE.

May Lineups

The lineup for Bumbershoot will be revealed this Thursday, May 2 - just in time for our guide to be revealed.

Austin City Limits' lineup will also be revealed this month on May 7. The announcement will account for both of ACL's two 2013 weekends. And you know what a lineup announcement means - our revamped guide isn't far behind.
