Austin, Texas -- South By Southwest, more commonly known as SXSW, is now accepting band applications for artists to perform at the 2014 edition.
SXSW's 28th annual event will take place March 11 - March 16 at various venues throughout Austin, and will host more than 25,000 industry personnel as well as media representatives and fans. Last year's festival showcased 2,200 artists, including 600 international acts representing 55 countries. Bands will be able to apply for the 2014 edition of the fest earlier than they have in the past, with admissions opening today, July 9. All applications must be received no later than October 11, 2013, although if applications are received before September 6 the fee is reduced from $45 to $33. In addition to music legends Dave Grohl, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Nicks, and Smokey Robinson, SXSW alumni include smaller acts like Haim, CHVRCHES, and Alabama Shakes.
