June is one of the busiest months for festivals, so prepare yourself with our list of upcoming festivals, guides, and lineup announcements.

June Festivals

June's festival series starts off with The Roots Picnic, taking place June 1 on Philadelphia's Festival Pier for the sixth year in a row. Headliners include Gary Clark Jr., Grimes, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and The Roots (obviously), so if you're looking for a quick weekend getaway, this one-day fest may be your answer.

Next up is NYC's Gov Ball, scheduled for June 7-9 just west of Manhattan on Randall's Island. In addition to their musical roster, Gov Ball is known for their activities, which include lawn games, a silent disco, photo booths, art installations, yoga, ping pong, and an urban farm. Metallica-curated Orion Music + More festival will also take place the weekend of June 8-9 in Detroit, a welcome change from last year's inaugural event in Atlantic City.

Soon after is NXNE, Toronto's seminal conference. This year's edition is scheduled for June 10-16, and will feature interactive presentations, comedy, and art in addition to the fest's 1000 bands and 30 films. Overlapping with NXNE are Sonar Barcelona and Ultra Korea, and back in the US, Bonnaroo is set for June 13-16.

The festival circuit doesn't slow down as it nears the end of the month, and the weekend of June 20-23 is a busy one. Morocco's Gnaoua is first on the docket, but don't let the fest's niche lineup deter you - many performances are free, and Festicket's travel package make the fest accessible and affordable. While you're there, head to Rabat for a visit to The Royal Palace, markets along the Rue des Consuls, and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V.

Back stateside, Firefly gears up for its sophomore edition June 21-23; judging by last year's inaugural installment, 2013's fest will be a success. Wilco-curated Solid Sound and EDC Las Vegas will also take place over the weekend.

Michigan's EDM fest Electric Forest and NYC's free seaside festival 4Knots round out the end of June, along with famed international festivals Glastonbury and Roskilde.

June Guides

In addition to our daily news coverage, we'll debut a few of our 2013 guides this month. Look for our mini-guide to Brooklyn's Northside fest, taking place June 13-20, as well as international guides to Finland's Flow, Australia's Splendour in the Grass, and England's Latitude.

June Announcements

If you missed out on today's Early Bird Ticket sale for the second edition of Boston Calling, regular General Admission, VIP, Single Day Passes, and Sky Box Passes will go on sale June 7.
