Sure there may not be an official start and end date to festival season, but the month of March would be the highest contender for the title. 

By March, diehard festivalgoers are showing the 9 signs they're ready for festival season and have had their fill of lineup announcement teasing. March is when the fun begins. So scroll down to find out the festivals to attend this month and the features to keep an eye out for.
