Taste of the Bay Area 2012 by Marjana Jaidi

San Francisco, California -- A leader of the food-music movement, Outside Lands has almost become as well known for its food and drink lineup as that of its music - almost. So without further adieu, we present the restaurants, food trucks, chefs, wineries, and breweries participating in this year's music festival, taking place in Golden Gate Park August 8-10.

So far, Outside Lands' Taste of the Bay Area lineup includes 70 restaurants and food trucks, with more to be announced in the coming months. Among the "farm to fork foods, nose-to-tail meats, and savory artisanal bites" scattered across the festival's three fields within Golden Gate Park will be new additions AQ ("Best New Restaurant" according to Esquire), TBD (AQ's casual sister), Proposition Chicken and Beast and the Hare for the carnivores, Chino ("Taiwanesedeliciousness"), Curry Up Now for Indian street food, and Glaze Teriyaki for Seattle-style teriyaki.

Among the returning favorites are il Canne Rosso, Rich Table, Del Popolo, Farkerbrown's Little Skillet, Big Chef Tom's Belly Burgers, Seoul on Wheels, Straw, and 4505 Meats. Also returning will be Outside Land's partnership with non-profit La Cocina in support of minority and immigrant female entrepreneurs in the food world. La Cocina alumni El Huarache Loco, Azalina's, Sabores Del Sur, Endless Summer Sweets, and Alicia's Tamales Los Mayas will be featured at the festival. Scroll down for the full Taste of the Bay Area lineup so far.

For chocolate worshipers (guilty!) and those with a sweet tooth, Outside Lands' Choco Lands will return to the park's McLaren Pass led by San Francisco's own Guittard Chocolate Company, the oldest family-run chocolate company in the US. This is the 'Land' you have to explore for a signature Outside Lands flavored ice cream (thanks to Humphry Slocombe Ice Cream), Dipped Chocolate Brownies (Sharona's Chocolate Shop), Artisan Cupcakes (Kara's Cupcakes), Chocolate Crackled Cookies (Epic Cookies), and Hot Chocolate (Candybar Dessert Lounge).

For the second year in a row, Outside Lands welcomes back Cheese Lands, where cheese lovers can sample locally made cheeses and discuss them with the artisan producers themselves. This area of the park will be curated by Culture's Thalassa Skinner in partnership with Napa Valley's Long Meadow Ranch

Now onto the beverages... Beer Lands in Golden Gate Park's Polo Field will keep the local beers flowing from reclaimed wooden taps all festival long. Magnolia Brewing Company's Dave McLean has curated this year's beer lineup, welcoming newcomers Firestone Walker Brewing Co., Golden Road Brewing, Calicraft Brewing Co., Faction Brewing, Mendocino Brewing, Stone Brewing Co., Strongbow Hard Apple Cider, and Ace Cider. Scroll down for the full Beer Lands lineup, both returning and new.

For the wine-lovers, Wine Lands will be led by Food & Wine's "Sommelier of the Year: 2013" Peter Eastlake. Within this 'Land,' 37 winemakers will uncork 120 wines, including those from Calder Wine Company, Cannonball, Franciscan, Kinero, Red Car, Rowland-Tebb, Sean Thackrey, Olivia Brion, Long Meadow Ranch, Scharffenberger Cellars, Scribe, Momokawa Saké, and Bonny Doon Vineyard. You can find the full lineup below, and be sure to keep your fingers crossed that Wine Lands will be close to Cheese Land.
