ATP, Pitchfork, and Primavera Sound Team Up for New Festival, Jabberwocky
London, United Kingdom -- Stuck between the ATP Fest, Pitchfork Music Fest, and Primavera Sound? Unless you're the London-born child of a Chicago-native and Barcelonian, you probably weren't considering making the trip to all three. But, if the three festivals sound like your thing, there's good news, because ATP, Pitchfork, and Primavera Sound are teaming up this year to put on the first ever Jabberwocky Festival, so you don't have to trek around the world to experience the best of each. All you'll need is a plane ticket to Heathrow.
Jabberwocky will take place August 15 and 16 at the Excel Centre in London. Artists on the roster so far include Neutral Milk Hotel, James Blake, Kurt Vile, Darkside, and Caribou. Scroll down to check out the lineup announced so far.
Billed as "a new arts, film, and music event," more artists and DJs will be announced in the coming months, as will a cinema program and some vaguely-labelled "extra-curricular activities."
Once the daytime festivities end, Jabberwocky will host official afterparties on both Friday and Saturday night at Shapes in Hackney Wick. Festival ticket holders get in free, and can literally party all night (the events run from 11pm to 6am), because who needs sleep when there's a festival to go to?
And if that's not enough, a Sunday event called Frabjous Sunday is scheduled for the day after Jabberwocky at the Ace Hotel, to ease festivalgoers back into real life after a weekend in festival fantasy land.
The Ace Hotel also has special packages on sale that include tickets to Jabberwocky, weekend accommodation, breakfast, entry to after parties, and more. One- and two-day tickets to the fest are already on sale as well.
The creators took the name Jabberwocky from Lewis Carroll's "Through the Looking Glass," in which Humpty Dumpty explains portmanteaus as "two meanings packed into one word." The name is fitting for the festival, representative of the three organizers' efforts coming together for one weekend. Plus, "Jabberwocky" is way more catchy than "ATPitchavera."
