Bourbon Lodge: The True Forecastle Headliner of 2014

posted by Laura Baker-Finch on May 08, 2014

Louisville, Kentucky -- Sure Outkast, Jack White, and Beck are the headliners of Forecastle Festival, but the festival's Bourbon Lodge has become a Forecastle tradition worthy of the attention the lineup receives (and rightfully deserves).

At this year's festival, taking place July 18-20, Forecastle will partner with the Kentucky Bourbon Trail to make the Bourbon Lodge fully immersive, complete with special partnerships, culinary experiences, and Bourbon activities. Need we say more?

New to the Lodge is the Bourbon Cares program, in which Bourbon brands will partner with Forecastle bands to feature single-barrel selections only available in the Bourbon Lodge at the festival. Spoon will hand-select a barrel from Four Roses Bourbon while JJ Grey & Mofro and Spanish Gold will select from Heaven Hill and Woodford Reserve, respectively. Members of Spoon and Spanish Gold will go a step further from selecting the bourbon and actually serve it, as part of the festival's Celebrity Bartending program with proceeds benefiting The Forecastle Foundation.

Also in the Lodge, you'll be able to pair your beverage with eats from Adam Burress and Chase Mucerino, two of Louisville's top restaurant chefs and creators. The two brains behind Hammerheads, Game, and Loop 22, will create an exclusive pop-up restaurant within the Lodge.

Perhaps the most novel of the activities set for the Bourbon Lodge this year is The Gonzo Bar, a tribute to Hunter S. Thompson, whose posthumous 77th birthday would have fallen during the festival. The Hunter-themed bar will offer bourbons and specialty cocktails inspired by the writer.

For Bourbon die-hards, you can purchase a Bourbon Lodge membership for $20 while supplies last. The membership can be purchased separately or as part of your festival ticket, which can still be purchased on the festival's ticket site.
