Playa del Carmen, Mexico -- Jamie Jones' Paradise has taken place every Wednesday at Ibiza's DC-10 since its seasons' start in 2012. This year, the Paradise party brought sunshine back to a (thus-far) rainy BPM for round two at Coco Maya.
Brit Jamie Jones carefully curated this night in paradise to fit the aesthetics of the festival and its partygoers despite a nearly all-British cast. Included were Hot Creations bandmate, Lee Foss; Hot Natured regulars, Richy Ahmed, Robert James, and wAFF; plus Compton-born, Chicago-bred, Derrick Carter.
As tropical sci-fi motifs and geometric shapes highlighted the DJ booth, a lush blend of palm trees, sand, and a multi-cultural audience decorated the dance floor. Jamie Jones composed three hours of sounds that dazzled the crowd - making it an interesting end to the night, and a bright start to a new day.
He began by mixing Patrick Toppings' "Forget" with Hector's remix to "Freak and Chips" by Carlos Sanchez and Javier Carballo. Jones then progressed to a Shonky remix of El Provost's "Allez Alley" and ending with Body Language's "Lose My Head (Jimmy Edgar Remix)" and Frank Lorber's "Runaway." The beauty of the set was found in his musical pattern that skipped along a plethora of genres, a path that varied from other BPM sets.
