Austin, Texas -- The International Music Festival Conference (IMFCON) has announced Chip Conley, founder and CEO of Fest300, as the opening keynote speaker for the three-day 2014 event.
Conley founded the Joie de Vivre chain of hotels and held the position of CEO for 24 years before selling the company. During that time, JDV hotels won numerous awards from various publications, so it's no wonder Airbnb appointed him Head of Global Hospitality and Strategy last year. His travel expertise coupled with a love of music festivals led him to found Fest300, a website in which he and his colleagues curate a list of the 300 best festivals worldwide, thus making him a perfect fit for IMFCON this year. His speech's topic is covered in its title "The Magic of Music Festivals: What It Means to this Generation."
Other notable panels include President and CEO of IMFCON and the International Film Festival Summit Laurie Kirby's "It's been a hard day's night!" panel, which will feature a year-end recap of the state of the music festival industry. You should also check out the annual "Anatomy of a Music Festival" panel, which Kirby hinted in an interview with Cultivora last December will feature Ashley Capps of AC Entertainment, producers of Bonnaroo, Forecastle, Big Ears, and Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit.
Other notable talks include "Sell Your Festival Out with Big Data" discussing different techniques to boost ticket sales, "All the World's a Stage" in which seasoned seasoned promoters will talk festival problem-solving, and "Sponsorship - Creating a Winning Deck" featuring panel-members from Superfly Presents (Bonnaroo), GMR Marketing, and Lagunitas Brewing Co.
IMFCON has grown exponentially in recent years, expanding its attendance and garnering bigger industry insiders making this a conference not to miss. It will celebrate its sixth edition December 7-9 in Austin, and you can register for attendance at the IMFCON website.
