New York City -- CMJ Music Marathon has announced the first round lineup for this year's daytime speaker programming, taking place October 21-25.
Firstly, CMJ will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Merge Records with a talk featuring former Spin Editor-in-Chief and current Buzzfeed Features Director Steve Kandall interviewing Merge Founders Mac McCaughan and Laura Ballance.
Next, famed music journalist and former MTV correspondent John Norris will sit down with Nika Rosa Danilova, aka Zola Jesus, to talk about her musical career as well as her upcoming fourth LP, Taiga.
Finally, we'll see a conversation with Tom Scharpling who recently completed his fourteen-year run as host of WFMU's The Best Show. He has also directed music videos for such artists as The New Pornographers, Ted Leo, Aimee Mann, Titus Andronicus and Wild Flag. Comedian, actor, and writer Chris Gethard will conduct the interview.
These panels are open to all who purchase official CMJ Badges, available now - $525 for the general public, $340 for students. Make sure you view our CMJ Festival Guide for travel insights, a curated events listing, and local recommendations.
