Do You Have What It Takes to Be Mayor of ACL 2014?
Austin City Limits 2013 via the festival
Austin, Texas -- Austin City Limits has announced the new "Mayor of ACL" contest for its 2014 installment. The winner gets a crazy number of festival perks as well as free entry to various Austin tourist spots.
Here's how it works: contestants can nominate themselves or their friends for the contest until this Thursday, September 11. Afterwards, "candidates" will upload a video of themselves to Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter explaining why they should be Mayor of ACL with the hashtags #MayorofACL and #ACLFest. The festival's "Electoral College" will decide upon the top candidates, at which point ACL will post the top videos, and those with the most likes, shares, and comments will have the best shot of winning the contest.
The winner gets a day dedicated to them by the City of Austin presented by Mayor Leffingwell, transportation to and from both ACL weekends, 2 VIP three-day passes and 5 General Admisssion single-day passes to both weekends, 2 tickets to every ACL TV taping from the start of the first weekend to the end of the second, free food, and even more stuff fully listed at the contest website.
Austin City Limits will take place the weekends of October 3-5 and 10-12, and the contest closes September 18. If you don't want to take any chances, you can still buy single-day passes for Friday and Sunday of weekend one and Friday of weekend two.
