Austin, Texas -- If you've been to SXSW the past couple years (or seen our photos), you know Doritos has made quite the bold impression on the festival's Downtown Austin landscape. Doritos hosts its annual concert series in a giant four-story vending machine. Yes, you read that right.
For SXSW 2014, the brand is going a step further from the stage's interactivity last year. Doritos will launch the new campaign "Bold Missions"
with Lady Gaga
, who announced the movement earlier today in the video below.
Lady Gaga will headline the "#BoldStage" on March 13 for Little Monsters and SXSW-goers to attend if they accept a bold challenge from the brand. The campaign will use Facebook, Twitter, and Vine to dare fans to complete stunts and challenges (including going up against roller derby pros while wearing an inflatable sumo wrestler suit) in return for prizes, including tickets to see Gaga next week.
Unfortuantely, the Lady Gaga performance will not take place in the giant vending machine after the city of Austin denied the permit citing "public safety concerns." While the rest of the Doritos roster will perform on the original stage, Gaga will have to be bold in the much larger Stubb's BBQ.
