Downtown Festival Announces Dates in 5 Cities, Cleveland Lineup Revealed
The War on Drugs by Laura Baker-Finch
Downtown Events have announced Downtown Festivals in five cities across the US in 2014. At each stop, the festival will stay for two days of music in various venues within their downtown districts.
Downtown Festival will first stop in Cleveland on September 19-20 with The War on Drugs, Justin Townes Earle, RJD2, Crash (from Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros), Com Truise, Islands, Pompaloose, Freeman, American Aquarium, and Califone. Downtown Cleveland will take over Grog Shop, House of Blues, and Beachland Ballroom over the two days.
After Cleveland, Downtown Festival will make stops in the downtown areas of Minneapolis (September 26-27), New York (October 3-4), Los Angeles (October 17-18), and Houston (November 14-15). The lineups and venues have not yet been announced for these locations, but the event organizers promise to bring together "high profile national artists and the most compelling emerging artists on unique bills in intimate settings." This way, they offer "the curation of a large festival at the cost of a club show." We can get behind that.
Downtown Festival began in 2011 to celebrate Downtown Record's 5th Anniversary. Until this year, the event has only taken place in New York City.
Festival passes and individual tickets will be available at thedowntownfestival.com. As of now, only tickets for Cleveland are on sale.
