EDMbiz Announces First Wave of 2014 Speakers

posted by Alyssa Buffenstein on May 30, 2014

Las Vegas, Nevada -- EDMbiz Conference & Expo has announced the first wave of panelists and speakers for its 2014 conference, which will take place on June 17-19 at the Cosmopolitan Hotel of Las Vegas. Confirmed speakers so far include Beatport's Matt Adell, Interscope's Neil Jacobson, SiriusXM's Geronimo, Ultra Music's David Waxman, Big Beat's Liz Miller, and SFX Entertainment's Shelly Finkel, with more to be announced in the coming weeks.

The conference, now in its third year, brings together some of the most successful names in both electronic dance music and the industry surrounding it - including artists, managers, agents, promoters, labels, publishers, producers, advertising agencies, brand execs, technologists, and entrepreneurs - for keynotes, panels, and presentations.  Speakers will discuss topics facing dance music culture like best practices, advertising and branding, licensing, social media, DIY, technology, festivals, direct-to-fan, and sustaining community and credibility with the massive growth of the EDM community. For the first time, this year's conference will expand to include a full-scale expo of music and lifestyle brands.

Hosting will be KCRW Music Director Jason Bentley, and keynote speeches will be given by artists Hardwell and Above & Beyond. Panels will include "The 6.2 Billion Dollar Business: Does Size Matter?," "Meet the Windish Agency," "State of the Label: The Art of Selling Music," and "The Third Annual EDMbiz Artist Panel." Krewella manager Jake Udell will curate a panel called "#20Something," focusing on up-and-coming music executives. Tatiana Oliviera Simonian, head of Branded Music Entertainment at Nielsen, will give an EDM consumer report, "Engaging the Electronic Music Listener." The full schedule, however, has yet to be announced.

EDMbiz composes a part of Electric Daisy Carnival Week, leading up to EDC Las Vegas, which recently announced its lineup, on June 20-22. In addition to the conference and expo, special EDC Week events will take place at some of Las Vegas' hottest clubs (in case you think you won't experience enough EDM throughout the week).
