Festival Spotlight: National ShamrockFest
ShamrockFest by Jay Lessard for the festival
Washington, D.C. -- In honor of today's holiday, we put the spotlight on a festival dedicated to music, beer, and everything Irish. Shamrock Fest returns to D.C. this year on March 22 for an all-day event headlined by the Dropkick Murphys.
The 14th annual ShamRock Festival will be held at RFK Stadium, a space set to accommodate the 30+ confirmed acts, the 7 stages on which they will be performing, and the tens of thousands of fans likely to attend.
The space will also feature 13 party areas, and beer trucks spanning the length of two football fields. We don't usually italicize, but that seemed necessary.
The festival's lineup centers on Guinness Irish rock bands, including the Dropkick Murphys, Black 47, Carbon Leaf, The Fighting Jamesons, and many more. Other stages will feature traditional Irish dance performances, DJs, and local emerging artists. Fiddlers, dancers, pub games, and competitions will be held in an area known as the "Irish Village."
If you like dancing and drinking Guinness, break out some green face paint and get yourself to D.C. this Saturday. Tickets are still available, with discounted prices for pairs or groups of 4+.
