FMMF and R. Kelly Mutually Part Ways

Columbus, Ohio -- Fashion Meets Music Festival (FMMF) and headliner R. Kelly have mutually decided to party ways, with the artist canceling his upcoming performance at the inaugural event. Kelly was slated to perform Friday, August 29 of the full Labor Day Weekend festival.
The decision comes as no surprise after the community backlash that has surrounded the artist's headlining slot. Over the past few weeks, FMMF artist Saintseneca withdrew from the festival and local radio station WCBE 90.5 FM ended its event sponsorship both citing R. Kelly's troubled legal history, including child pornography allegations.
In addition to a joint statement announcing the mutual parting of ways, R. Kelly's publicist released the following statement: "R. Kelly is sorry to disappoint his fans, but looks forward to seeing them in the near future during one of his upcoming tours."
No one has been announced as a specific replacement to R. Kelly, but the FMMF lineup still has an impressive roster for an inaugural event, with headliners O.A.R., Rusko, Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child, Paper Diamond, and Destructo. Additional acts include Future Islands, The Menzingers, and Maps & Atlases.
Fashion Meets Music Festival will bring musical artists together with designers and fashion brands over Labor Day Weekend, August 29-31. The festival is free, but fans can purchase VIP passes for access to exclusive events, food and beverage credits, discounts, and private viewing and lounge areas.
