Igloofest Returns to Montreal for 12 Starry Nights

posted by Safa Jinje on January 14, 2013

Montreal, Canada -- Igloofest returns in less than a week for its seventh year in Montreal's illustrious Old Port. This year's festival will feature four weekends, beginning the weekend of Thursday, January 17th to Saturday, January 19th, and ending on the weekend of Thursday, February 7th to Saturday, February 9th, for a total of twelve starry nights of live electronic music and stunning visual projections.

For those of you who aren't familiar with Montreal's winters, it can get quite frigid in Canada's French culture capital. Temperatures average between 14°F and 28°F in January, so toques (or beanies as you would say in the States), mitts, and all things wool are the season's most treasured accessories. Bundle up and brave the season's spite because the cold is no deterrent to the festivities. In fact, Igloofest attendance has jumped from 4,000 in 2007 to 70,000 in 2012.

This year's line up features a mix of local favorites and world renowned electronic acts. Weekend One presents NYC duo Wolf + Lamb, who take the Sapporo Stage on January 17th with Richie G and Misstress Barbara. On January 18th, Germany's Mathias Kaden will warm up crowds with his rhythmic house styling. And on January 19th, Josh Wink closes the weekend with what will surely be a tense mix of techno and house.

Other artists passing through the Sapporo Stage include, TNGHT, Schlachthofbronx, Ellen Allien, A Tribe Called Red, Joe Goddard of Hot Chip, Oneman, and Joy Orbison.

Igloopasses for the full festival start at $120, weekend passes start at $40, and individual tickets range between $16-20. For more information on Igloofest's line up and where to get tickets, visit Igloofest's official site.
