Lollapalooza Rumored to Expand to Toronto in 2015

Toronto, Canada -- After hosting several successful South American sister festivals in recent years along with its flagship Chicago event, it looks like Lollapalooza might expand to Toronto in 2015.
In a recent interview with Consequence of Sound, the head of Toronto Urban Roots Festival Jeff Cohen discussed Lollapalooza organizers C3 Presents' plans for northern conquest, saying, "Lollapalooza is surely coming to Toronto next August 2015, and it’ll be very interesting to see how that changes the summer landscape in our great city." He added the event would take place the second weekend of August.
When reached for comment, C3 Presents representatives responded "nothing is confirmed," neither verifying nor denying the rumors. The company, who produces ACL, Counterpoint, and LouFest in addition to all Lollapalooza incarnations, has also recently made headlines after acquiring full control of Australia's Big Day Out before canceling its 2015 edition.
If Lollapalooza Toronto were to take place the second weekend of August, it would directly conflict with San Francisco's Outside Lands. While many artists on the festival circuit manage to play both Chicago (Lollapalooza) and Montréal (Osheaga), which coincide the first weekend of the month, a trip from Toronto to San Fran or vice-versa in such a period of time is far more difficult. Let's hope we don't see a downgrade in the Outside Lands lineup next year.
Lollapalooza's Chicago edition will take place August 1-3 at Grant Park. General admission, VIP, and single-day passes are currently sold-out, although more expensive options are still available.
