Every January, publications and tastemakers publish endless lists and playlists declaring the "Artists to Watch" and the "Acts You Need to Hear" of the year ahead. These are valuable, yes, but when it comes to festivals, what you need to know usually depends on what albums were big the year before.

That's where this playlist comes in...

Now that the lineups have already been revealed for Coachella, Governors Ball, Firefly, Hangout, Jazz Fest, Shaky Knees, Treefort, and Buku, to name a few, we compiled a playlist of the artists who came up repeatedly. We expect these names to be announced a few more times before the 2014 festival season gets into full swing, so if you haven't already starred their albums from last year - do so now.

If you've been paying attention to lineups recently, you're probably as sick of the Outkast hype as we are. Of course we are excited to see the recently-reunited duo, but c'mon - 40 festivals in 2014? Take a breather. That being said, we had to include Outkast on the playlist; did we mention they're on 40 festival lineups?

But the entire playlist isn't all headline names, there's an equal mix of the names that come up on a bill in bold or near the top (Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend, Jack Johnson, Foster the People, Disclosure) and those artists everyone was talking about by the end of 2013 (Haerts, Bastille, The 1975, Chance the Rapper, Basic Vacation). Not only will these be the artists on the stages across festivals this season, the chosen songs will be the ones they'll play; all selections came out in 2013 or 2014, save for Outkast of course. Happy Streaming!

Stream the playlist above, follow to keep up to date with any artists we might add as more lineups are announced, and tweet us if you think we missed any act!
