Music Monday Playlist: Best of the Fests 2014

Outkast at Firefly 2014 by Laura Baker-Finch

By now it should be clear our strategy with these Music Monday playlists. Every Monday we create a Spotify playlist dedicated to the lineup of a music festival that will take place that week or weekend. Simple.

These week, however, we had some trouble selecting an upcoming festival worthy of our attention. Oh the woes of post-festival season. Instead, we decided to weed through all our playlists from the year so far to pick out the artists and the tracks we loved the most at the myriad festivals we attended this season. We've selected artists from Coachella, Firefly, Governors Ball, BUKU, Riot Fest, Flow, Fun Fun Fun, FYF Fest, Northside, Fest 13, Sasquatch!, Capitol Hill Block Party, CMJ, and oh so many more.

Plenty of genres are accounted for (From Deafheaven to Banks to Caribou) and artists span from the noon time slot newcomers (Angel Olsen, Courtney Barnett, Benjamin Booker, Chance the Rapper) to end-of-night headliners (OutkastQueens of the Stone Age, Weezer, The National, The Strokes). You'll also hear Neutral Milk Hotel, War on Drugs, Against Me!, Little Dragon, Chet Faker, Blood Orange, How to Dress Well, Interpol, and a slew of others. We don't want to toot our own horn on this one, but toot toot.

Stream the playlist below, in a new browser, or in Spotify to sync it to your own library. We're pretty positive these 49 tracks will not only aid in your festival withdrawals, but soundtrack some killer holiday parties as well. Well, if you're avoiding cheesy Christmas carols that is.
