Music Monday Playlist: Project Pabst

posted by Laura Baker-Finch on September 22, 2014

Portland, Oregon -- You'd be hard pressed to find a more hipster music festival in 2014 than Project Pabst, and we say that with confidence even though the fest is in its inaugural year.

Pabst Blue Ribbon, the beer that has become the drink of choice of the young creative class (hipsters), is giving back to the city that helped it re-launch after record lows in 2001, the city home to a large percentage of said young creative class. The festival, or project, will debut with the help of Outside Lands and Bonnaroo's Superfly Presents this weekend, September 26 and 27 at Zidell Yards as well as in clubs and venues around the city.

Fans of guitars should be in attendance, with Portland's own Modest Mouse headlining the Sunday festivities and Tears For Fears closing out the previous night. Other big names include Violent Femmes, Rocket From The Crypt, and Wu-Tang Clan's GZA performing Liquid Swords in full. More light rock will be provided by Phosphorescent, Lord Huron, and Grandparents while The Thermals, Red Fang, and Speedy Ortiz will punk things up a bit.

Stream these artists and the rest of the Project Pabst lineup in our Spotify playlist dedicated to the music festival. Even if you're not Portland-based or making the hipster pilgrimage this weekend, we're pretty sure you'll find some situation fitting to press play.
