New Festival Alert: Reykjavik's Secret Solstice Festival
Hot Springs Valley, Iceland -- Introducing the newest festival to take on the most northerly capital city on the planet, Secret Solstice.
The festival, announced yesterday, made its debut with part of its lineup already confirmed and available for public knowledge. Massive Attack, Woodkid, and Skream will headline the event along with Mum, Kerri Chandler, Damian Lazarus, and a slew of Iceland's local talent. Once the full lineup is announced, over one hundred acts from around the world will be on the bill.
In their announcement post, Secret Solstice asked:
Tired of going to the same old music festivals, in the same old boring places? Have you been dreaming about partying in a land of volcanoes, elves, waterfalls, and glaciers, where the sun never ever sets?
While we're pretty positive there are no elves, the sun truly will never set during the festival, taking place June 20-22. Attributing the 24-hours of daylight to "astrological witchcraft that's too hard to explain without a PhD in super-science," the no night gimmick of SS sets itself apart from the myriad events promising "something new."
Super-ultra-mega-earlybird weekend passes will go on sale Monday, February 10 for €85, a price that will nearly double as the festival date nears.
At the moment, not much else is known about the festival save for what a few posts on their Facebook has given away. We do know, however, that it is managed by Fridrik Olafsson and Jack Robinson, the latter is also working with Outlook and Dimensions in Croatia.
