Detroit, Michigan -- The Detroit Electronic Music Festival announced today that it would not be returning as expected in 2014, yet it did announce plans to hold the event 4th of July weekend of 2015.
The festival cited "an unforeseen limitation on the festival site plan" due to ongoing railway construction as well as developments that would "require more time to ensure their proper presentation."
DEMF began in 2000 and ran successfully for three years before being rebranded as Movement which was taglined "Detroit's Electronic Music Festival" causing many to refer to it as DEMF. This year would have been the first in which both festivals were produced. To clarify, Movement is not cancelled.
The festival has announced that it is offering refunds or passes to next year's event to those who have already purchased tickets. Movement will still take place May 24-26 at Hart Plaza, and tickets are still available with three-day passes starting at $130.
