New York City -- Along with the release of a full-length feature film today, the Red Bull Music Academy has announced it will return to New York City this May as a festival.

Last year, The Red Bull Music Academy set up its annual, traveling workshop in NYC. The workshop, which has taken place in a different global city the past 15 years, hosted music and arts events across the city. Like each annual workshop, last year's edition showcased 60 up-and-coming musicians, giving them the chance to work with musical luminaries through workshops and studios.

The NYC-based Academy was such a success organizers have decided to make New York City home of a Red Bull Music Academy Festival this may. The month-long festival will host a series of carefully-curated music and art events, becoming an annual public event.

The festival lineup, show schedule, and ticket information will be announced in the coming weeks.

Along with this information, Red Bull Music Academy released What Difference Does it Make? A Film About Making Music for free viewing at The full length feature film, directed by Ralf Schmerberg, includes appearances from Brian Eno, Philip Glass, Giorgio Moroder, Erykah Badu, Nile Rodgers, Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Q-Tip, Richie Hawtin, James Murphy, Debbie Harry, and more.
