San Francisco, California -- Red Bull Music Academy announced today its Culture Clash series will make its San Francisco debut with TV personality Sway Calloway hosting.

The event is modeled after a Jamaican sound clash and requires each crew to bring their own soundsystem. Three of the four rounds of the competition will be decided by crowd cheers measured by a decibel meter, and "calling out opponents, mockeries, diss records and counteractions are explicitly encouraged." The competing four collectives have yet to be announced.

Previous Culture Clashes have been held in various locations around the world including London, Toronto, Milan, Miami, and Los Angeles, and have featured notable collectives such as Dim Mak, SMOG, Dub Club, Stones Throw, Afrika Bambaataa’s Zulu Nation, and Mad Decent.

San Francisco's Culture Clash will take place October 1 at the Regency Ballroom. Tickets are currently on-sale and range from $15-$25.
