Riot Fest 2014 Announces New Downtown Denver Location

Denver, Colorado -- After residents of Byers, Colorado ousted the festival from its city limits, Riot Fest Denver has announced the new location for its 2014 installment. Instead of taking place at May Farms, this year's festival will now take place in downtown Denver at Sports Authority Field in Mile High Stadium. The date and lineup will not change.

The biggest bummer for festivalgoers is that camping will no longer be available - while all camping passes will be refunded, attendees from out of town will now have to find accommodations elsewhere.

The festival announced it was forced out of its original location in Byers, Colorado last week, after town residents voiced opposition to the festival returning. Check out an anti-Riot Fest newspaper ad from Byers below:

Riot Mike has released an apologetic statement about the whole ordeal, detailing the festival's history in Byers and the entire location-change situation. In it, he essentially defends punk-rock and its place in the small town of Byers, whose residents forced the festival out. Read the statement on Riot Fest's website

Despite the new location and drama, Riot Fest Denver is still one of the best punk festivals around - headlined this year by Weezer, The Cure, and The National. It takes place September 19-21, and tickets are on sale now.
