Skate and Surf 2014: Know Before You Go

posted by Alyssa Buffenstein on May 16, 2014

Asbury Park, NJ -- Tomorrow, Skate and Surf Festival will finally make its return to Asbury Park after eight years, a homecoming symbolized perfectly by the reunions and throwbacks on the lineup. If marathoning sets by Midtown, Circa Survive, Alkaline Trio, and New Found Glory seem overwhelming (yes, that really is the Day 2 main stage schedule), don't fret - we've compiled all the info you need to have a totally stress-free, but still kick-ass, weekend.

It's always a good idea to make a general game plan of what bands are your must-sees, but don't get too stressed about sticking to a schedule. You can find Skate and Surf's set times via the Gamechanger App, which also features a festival map, so you can acquaint yourself with the grounds before you arrive. If you don't have an iPhone or Android, scroll down to see the full schedule by stage. Pick a few bands you can't miss, but keep your eyes and ears open to watching new acts - that's the fun of a festival!

After Day 1, there will be two official afterparties, so the music doesn't have to stop when the sun goes down. If you're a staunch defender of pop-punk, head to The Wonder Loft at 10pm on Saturday to see Knuckle Puck, Light Years, The Weaks, and Back and Forth. If metal's more your thing (and you're over 21), then check out the afterparty at The Saint, featuring My Ticket Home, Gift Giver, Toothgrinder, and Illusionist. Tickets are on sale via Bad Timing Records and The Saint, respectively. Just remember not to party too hard, or you'll miss out on all the fun of day two.

If you haven't gotten your festival ticket, weekend and single-day tickets are still available. If you're on the fence about going, why not listen to our ultimate Skate and Surf Playlist to help you decide? See you at Asbury Park!
