Ferropolis, Germany -- From the first artists announced to the highlights from last year to the praise, this announcement has us itching for a flight to Germany's Melt! Festival.

Portishead, Royksopp & Robyn (Germany 2014 Exclusive), Moderat, Fritz Kalkbrenner, Haim, and Metronomy are among the first artists announced for the 2014 edition of Melt!, which will take place July 18-20 in Ferropolis. Scroll down for the lineup so far.

If you're not hooked by the first lineup announcement, and thus don't share my admiration of Portishead, read on.

Melt! has been awarded the title 'Best Medium-Sized Festival' in the Festival Awards Europe, a win that at least has something to do with the festival's location: Ferropolis. "The City of Iron" is an open-aired museum, of sorts. The grounds are scattered with huge industrial machines from the mid-twentieth century, in between which the festival's stages exist.

But that's not all, Ferropolis juts out into the Gremminer See (or lake) and is thus surrounded on three sides by water for festivalgoers to cool down in between sets. And at just an hour and a half outside of Berlin, we're already dreaming of the side trips.

Still need convincing? Scroll down for the 2013 Highlights Video and for the full lineup announced thus far.

If you're anything like us at Cultivora, you've already opened your bank account and budgeting apps to see if a flight to Germany is feasible this summer. If you're interested, tickets to Melt! are on sale now.
