Known as "The Music City," Nashville is most famous for country music, but in recent years has become a haven for musicians of all genres and styles. Located in central Tennessee, Nashville's is the gateway to the state's most famous music festival, Bonnaroo, but we think it's worth a longer look. With an average high temperature around 70°F (21°C), Nashville is perfect in almost any season for exploration of its performing arts scene, burgeoning food culture, beautiful college campuses, and art centers.

For some attractions outside of the city proper, head to the Jack Daniels Distillery in nearby Lynchburg; the beautiful Belle Meade Plantation; the Hermitage Mansion, home to US President Andrew Jackson; and of course The Grand Ole Opry.
