Byron Bay Bluesfest 2015

Byron Bay Bluesfest 2014 via the festival

Byron Bay Bluesfest has been a top ranking Aussie festival since its inception 26 years ago. With 13 awards and 11 nominations, Bluesfest truly deserves the nickname "Australia's premier Blues & Roots Music Festival," and with another killer lineup expected for 2015, it doesn't look like this title will be going away anytime soon.

On par with its lineup is its location - Byron Bay, known around the world for its unparalleled beaches and laid-back lifestyle (the subculture of hippies is alive and well!). A trip to Bluesfest can just as easily be spent exclusively on the festival grounds and adjacent campsite as it can with a combination of festival and surf.

Despite having an Australian on the Cultivora staff (me), we wanted to ensure our recommendations were not only tinged with some Aussie knowledge but took advantage of the full expertise of Australia-based music festival experts. Hence, to compile this guide, we enlisted the help of friends Larry Heath and Lucy Inglis of The AU Review.
