Splendour In The Grass 2015

Splendour in The Grass via Echo Net Daily

Splendour in the Grass is Australia’s largest and arguably most beloved winter music festival. The event hosts 30,000 festivalgoers each day and continuously impresses with lineups featuring the biggest names in music from around the globe. The festival has continuously grown over the years in attendance, featured artists, and length - from a 1-day event at its inception in 2001 to a 3-day event today.

Splendour in the Grass originated in Byron Bay, a city known for its beautiful beaches and laid back attitude on the northern boarder of New South Wales. However, due to lack of council approval, the festival moved a few hours north to Woodfordia in Woodford, Queensland, for its 2010 and 2011 installments. While the larger and more mountainous Woodfordia allowed for most all festivalgoers to camp and for the festival organizers to add more activities and art installations, festival vets still longed for its return to Byron Bay. To their delight, the festival returned to its beachside town of Byron Bay and to a permanent home at North Byron Parklands.

No matter where it is located, Splendour in the Grass fosters a community like no other, especially amongst campers. The music is only one aspect of the festival that removes you from the real world for a weekend. You'll never be at a loss for things to explore even when away from the stages; Splendour truly is a world of its own. Real-life-you becomes suspended in a utopian community complete with art installations, side attractions, and sonic delights literally everywhere you turn.

For this guide, we teamed up again with Larry Heath and Lucy Inglis of the AU review. Like our Guide to Byron Bay Bluesfest, Larry and Lucy have stepped in to ensure our recommendations for Splendour are ideal for a stop before, during, or after this year's Splendour in the Grass.
