Movement 2015

Movement 2014 via the festival

For over a decade, electronic music lovers have congregated in Detroit’s Hart Plaza for the annual Movement festival. Commonly referred to as DEMF (Detroit Electronic Music Festival), the event is held each Memorial Day weekend, which is the last weekend in May. With the involvement of Detroit heavyweights like Carl Craig, Kevin Saunderson, and Derrick May, this is festival with a history. For locals, going to DEMF is a rite of passage, and your first year is (hopefully) remembered fondly; for those not from the immediate area, Hart Plaza is a destination that’s worth the trip. Although ticket prices have increased each year, Movement is still one of the most affordable festivals in the United States. This weekend-long party attracts a mixed crowd, but the vibes are always good; no matter what your scene is, both musically and socially, you’ll find it here.
